Indulge in a very rare antique Victorian Snake Serpent Brooch depicting a magnificent three dimensional snake in 14 Karat Gold with two Ruby eyes and holding a Pearl in its mouth. The snake is exquisitely created in highly detailed 14 Karat Gold. The snake is coiled around itself in a deep engraved repousse design with fabulous scales along its entire body. The fully modeled three dimensional form is just magnificent and continues on the reverse of the jewel. The snake is set with two gorgeous bright red ruby eyes. These rubies are cabochon cut and are a stunning color with incredible fire. A wonderful prong set pearl hangs as a drop from the snake's mouth. This imagery is often seen as an egg or the world.

The snake is a symbol of transformation, rebirth, and new beginnings in many cultures, because it sheds its skin. The egg also symbolizes new life and potential.
The jewel has a pin stem to be worn as a brooch. The snake can be easily converted to a pendant necklace if desired. The brooch dates to circa 1840-1880. It is extremely rare to find these early snake jewels and we are so excited when we do!

Georgian Snake Poison Locket Pendant Mourning Garnet Antique Gold 1800 Rare

A very rare antique Georgian to Victorian Snake Pendant Locket with a small hinged Locket opening in which to place a treasured memento, a mourning item, or possibly poison! The extraordinary Snake Pendant is 14 Karat Gold. The head and eyes of the snake are set with a pear shaped and two round faceted red Garnets. The locket portion is covered with a crystal or rock crystal cover on the front. The reverse of the locket portion opens with a lovely detailed hinge with a glass cover.
The pendant is 34mm long including the bales. Without the bales the snake is 28mm long and 12mm wide.
The interior of the locket portion is 4mm in diameter and is 4.5mm deep.
The snake is 14 Karat Gold.
The pendant weighs 1.6 grams.
