About the Item
Expertly crafted in 14k yellow gold, this stunning oval pendant depicts an ancient Egyptian hunter within the center. The outer ring of the pendant features themed detailing as well as two circles on either side of the hunter with various carved symbols. The hunter is standing with his legs spread with a stick in one hand indicating his intent to throw it and a snake in the other. A popular image within tombs are hunters throwing a stick, an image that persisted into later periods of Ancient Egypt going back to at least the era of Giza Pyramids. Additionally, ancient Egyptians capitalized from hunting large flocks of birds by throwing a stick, which was considered a sport practiced by royalty. For royalty, hunting was a way to show their power and ability to protect their people. Furthermore, a snake is a powerful symbol and represents royalty, divinity and also seen as a symbol of protection in Egyptian mythology. The history and representation depicted of this lovely pendant make it a must have for any fine jewelry collector.
