About the Item
A beautifully preserved vintage compact dating to 1921, crafted in sterling silver with a silver-gilt interior. This elegant piece opens to reveal a clear mirror and a recessed compartment that once held a powder puff—still included. The compact is now suspended from a newly added, heavy sterling silver chain, transforming it into a wearable, functional pendant.
The compact bears full English hallmarks, indicating it was made in Birmingham in 1921 by the silversmith J.O.V. The marks include the Birmingham anchor, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the date letter W.
Originally designed to be tucked into a handbag or clipped to a chatelaine, it now makes a striking statement worn around the neck, blending practicality with timeless style.
