A fine vintage Italian gold charm or pendant.
In 14 karat yellow gold.
In the form of a horseshoe with the number 13 at its center.
13 is considered lucky in Italian culture - in large part because the football betting pool Totocalcio allowed a maximum of 13 bets from 1950 - 2004. This cultural phenomenon became integrated into the Italian lexicon as "fare tredici" (lit. to 'make 13') became the commonly used exclamation for "I hit the jackpot!" or "I got lucky!".
