About the Item
This exquisite necklace by Maison Sasportas is a striking example of mid-century French elegance, crafted in richly textured 18k yellow gold and set with rows of brilliant-cut diamonds. The centerpiece—a bold, sculptural tassel motif—features a hidden hinged compartment at the reverse, discreetly designed to open as a locket for storing a cherished memento.
Note: The necklace was made to have a watch movement in it but we do not have the movement so it is currently set up just to be worn as a necklace.
The pendant is suspended from a finely woven braided gold chain, enhancing the tactile luxury and sophisticated drape of the piece.
Founded in the early 20th century by Paul Lévy, Maison Sasportas rose to prominence in the decorative arts scene, earning a gold medal at the prestigious 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. Renowned for their refined Art Deco and later Retro designs, Sasportas jewelry is celebrated for its bold geometry, intricate metalwork, and innovative use of colored stones, enamel, and mixed materials. The workshop also produced pieces for esteemed houses such as Cartier and Van Cleef
Arpels, further solidifying its reputation for exceptional craftsmanship.
