Indulge in a museum quality absolutely stunning and very rare large antique Shell Cameo Pendant Brooch with a hand carved image of two winged angels attending to a nude Goddess maiden! The large neoclassical 2 inch tall cameo is set in an elegant scalloped and braided border in 14 Karat Yellow Gold, and has a bail to be worn as a necklace and a pin stem to be worn as a brooch if desired.
The cameo is of extraordinary beauty and the imagery is very rare. The magnificent male and female angels exude beauty, majesty and grace with their magnificent wings and exquisite details. The image of the goddess and angels is an absolute masterwork of cameo carving. The angels and goddess have extremely fine details in their faces, and the bodies and wings are extraordinary. The magnificent large pendant is a masterpiece of cameo artistry and the work of one of the finest cameo artists.
The cameo is set in a beautiful 14 Karat Yellow Gold scalloped and braided framed border. The cameo pendant has a lovely bail to be worn as a necklace as well as a pin to be worn as a brooch. The bail is articulated so as to be invisible when worn as a brooch.
Cameo jewels are all the rage today and this is one of the most extraordinary carved gems we have seen.
The pendant is 2 1/8 inches (55mm) tall including the bails. Without the bail the pendant is 47mm by 43mm.
The pendant is hallmarked 14K.
