About the Item
A rare, non-irradiated natural yellow diamond weighing .60 carats is the heart and soul of this magnificent and truly rare 22" pendant. Today, virtually all fancy-color diamonds achieve their color through the cunning methods of science. But this fancy yellow diamond was born that way: fancy. That's rare.
The old European-cut brilliant diamond has been graded as Light Yellow (U/V) with VS1 (or better) clarity is the set within a rich 14K yellow gold buttercup mounting. The mounting measures 9.44mm. The 22" necklace is fitted with a cunning and favorite clasp -invented by Mr. Hester in 1965. The style is pure Victorian but there is a finish to the hand-worked gold that is ever-so-slightly more Mid-century modern to me. I believe this necklace was created in the late 1960s and probably in America.
The diamond has not been irradiated to achieve its glorious —and rare— yellow coloring; this diamond is entirely natural and untreated. And at .60 carats, it's the perfect size for everyday wear.
The necklace ships with a certificate from EGL that will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about this diamond. Note: Because the diamond was mounted, EGL will never issue a grade higher than VS1 -as they have done here. I believe the clarity is VVS2.
