About the Item
A beautifully crafted Art Nouveau cigarette case dating from around 1900. The cover is richly decorated in high relief with a flowing floral motif, the curves and whiplash lines characteristic of the Jugendstil movement. Inside is stamped ALPACCA SILBER and DRGM (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster – “registered design” in the German Empire).
• Solid silver (tested, low grade typical of German manufacture)
