About the Item

This one-of-a-kind jewelry box is carved from a single block of Imperial Jasper, selected for its complex natural stratification and warm, earthy palette. The stone reveals flowing layers of ochre, sand, moss green, and soft grey, formed over millions of years and brought to life through expert lapidary work. Each surface is carefully polished to a satin finish, preserving the tactile depth of the stone while maintaining a refined architectural presence. Created in Idar-Oberstein, Germany — the historic center of European gemstone carving — this box reflects a lineage of craftsmanship associated with the world’s most important jewelry houses. The precise fit of the lid, the weight, and the quiet authority of the material elevate it beyond function into the realm of collectible objet d’art. The interior is fitted with a bespoke suede insert, designed to cradle fine jewelry and precious objects with care. This box is conceived as both a protective vessel and a sculptural element for an interior, equally at home in a private collection, gallery setting, or curated living space. The suede insert was commissioned from the historic Dardel atelier in Paris, founded in 1895 and long regarded as one of France’s finest workshops for luxury presentation and bespoke cases. Dardel collaborated with major jewelry and watch maisons for over a century before closing its doors recently. This insert belongs to one of the final commissions completed by the atelier, making it not only functional, but a quiet testament to disappearing artisanal heritage.
