A vintage 18 karat yellow gold lapis lazuli pill box, circa 1970
A sweet pill box of rectangular shape both the lid and base of the box are set with cabochon lapis lazuli gently flecked with distincive gold flecks of pyrite throughout.
Lapis lazuli is a semiprecious stone prized for its deep blue colour.
Historically lapis lazuli has had associations with royalty, strength courage, wisdom and intellect, friendship and truth. It has often been believed to ward off evil.
The box is fitted with two five barrelled hinge and finished with a push snap thumb for ease of opening and closing.
Stamped '750' for 18 karat gold to the side of the box.
This piece is excellently crafted with close attention to detail and will look equally beautiful in a handbag or sitting on a dressing table.

Condition - Overall the condition of the pill box is very good, with some slight abrasions to the surface of the gold, in keeping with its general age
