About the Item

An exceptionally rare antique copper trumpet crafted by Antonín Khüttl in Graslitz (Graslitz, Bohemia – later part of Czechoslovakia) circa 1910. Khüttl was among the most respected instrument makers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, producing brass and copper instruments that won medals at world expositions, as evidenced by the finely engraved medallions on this piece (Paris 1878, Melbourne 1880). This example is in excellent condition, showcasing the deep, warm patina of hand-hammered copper. The engraved floral and laurel details remain crisp, and the bold maker’s mark — A. Khüttl, Graslitz — is clearly visible. Its craftsmanship embodies the golden age of Bohemian instrument making, when Graslitz was a world-renowned center for brass and woodwind production. Maker: A. Khüttl (Antonín Khüttl), Graslitz (Bohemia, later Czechoslovakia) Date: Circa 1910 Material: Solid copper with engraved detailing Condition: Excellent, with warm patina, fully intact engraving, and no structural damage Provenance: From a private collection, preserved carefully for over a century Trumpets of this era were often crafted for military bands and professional orchestras, and Khüttl instruments were admired for their clarity of tone and durability. Today, they are prized by both musicians and collectors for their historical importance and striking aesthetic. The engraved exposition medals celebrate Khüttl’s international recognition, elevating this trumpet beyond a musical instrument into the realm of functional art and collectible history. A gorgeous desktop decorative treasure, but also a smooth, fully playable musical instrument with a smooth, mellow sound. The buttons are smooth and fluid -they do not stick. The sound from this instrument is sublime.

Imperial Topaz Pearl Gold Ring Certified Untreated, London, 1843 Size 10.5
Located in Northampton, MA
This vivid pink imperial topaz ring -hand-crafted in England over 180 years ago- is one of the rarest and most unapologetically regal rings you will ever encounter. A size 10.5 ring, it was originally created for a man. But could of course be worn by anyone today. In the era this ring was created, men wore pearls. And no man would feel uncomfortable wearing a flashy pink gemstone because there is absolutely no other gemstone that looks like this. Topaz is a common gemstone and is typically white. It is irradiated to achieve its popular blue and pink colors. But naturally pink topaz is not common. It is in fact exceedingly rare, considerably rarer than diamonds. And this particular natural pink topaz gem is vividly saturated. It flashes purple. Having reviewed images of the pink imperial topaz necklace and earrings King Charles presented his wife, Queen Camilla...

Antique French Brass Hunting Horn, "Le Cor de Chasse", Early 1900s
Located in Dallas, TX
An ancestor of modern orchestral horns, this le cor de chasse, or hunting horn, would have been carried by a member of a fox or stag hunting party known as the huntsman. Unlike orchestral horns, this brass version is valveless, relying on the skill of the huntsman to manipulate pitch through delicate adjustments of the lips. By varying the frequency of notes, as well as the pitch and duration, the huntsman would produce different signals to alert members of the hunting party or to relay commands to the hounds. Horns such as these (cor à plusieurs tours) that feature distinctive tight coils and a soldered mouthpiece were designed to be played with one hand while on horseback. Our French brass hunting horn...
