“Summer Pond” is a monumental sculptural centerpiece that unites master craftsmanship with the poetic stillness of nature.
Measuring 50 cm in diameter at its widest point and 51 cm in height, this extraordinary creation weighs 28 kg in total, including the hand-crafted art glass that forms the shimmering surface of the water. The piece contains 15 kg of solid silver, shaped and refined through meticulous sculptural engraving, artistic casting, and intricate metalwork.
Every element of the pond has been carved, set, or assembled by hand. Natural stones are transformed into lifelike flora and fauna:
• Green jade, snow chalcedony, red chalcedony, black agate, amethyst, and green tourmaline create the detailed sculptural forms of leaves, petals, and natural textures.
• Inlays of pearls, garnet, apatite, jasper, and chalcedony add depth and subtle color shifts throughout the composition.
• Fine gemstone settings feature a total of 15ct. of sapphires, 5ct. of rubies, 5ct. of emeralds, and 10ct. of amethysts, each anchored with traditional jewelry-setting techniques rarely applied to sculptural works of this scale.
The surface of the water is brought to life through transparent hot enamel over guilloché and stained-glass enamel, capturing the effect of sunlight gliding over a quiet pond. 24K gold plating, silver oxidation, and delicate engraving enrich the atmosphere with warmth, contrast, and depth.
In total, the piece is composed of 613 individual components, each crafted from different materials and united through cold hidden assembly-a technique famously referred to by Carl Fabergé as “the union of the impossible.” This engineering method ensures the integrity of the structure while preserving the purity of each artistic medium.
