Julius Rappoport created most of the elegant and funny silver animal figurines for the House of Fabergé. These pieces served various purposes—from wine jugs and bell buttons to lighters and decorative objects—or simply as delightful collectibles. His earliest works date back to 1890.
Some of Rappoport’s creations are held in the Kremlin Armory and the Hermitage Museum. His figurines are renowned for their intricate detailing, while Fabergé’s works stand out for their exceptional realism—though the firm was not the first to craft silver animal figures...

Fabergé Julius Rappoport Silver Bulldog with Ruby Eyes
By Fabergé
Located in Chesterland, OH
Introducing a cute antique silver bulldog with ruby eyes, crafted for the Russian Imperial court by one of Carl Fabergé’s finest jewelers, Julius Rappoport.
Julius Rappoport created most of the elegant silver animal figurines for the House of Fabergé. These pieces served various purposes—from wine jugs and bell buttons to lighters and decorative objects—or simply as delightful collectibles. His earliest works date back to 1890.
Animal figurines crafted during the Fabergé era were immensely popular among buyers of that era. With great dedication, the masters created miniature representations of beloved pets, especially dogs! These exquisite works of art were collected and exchanged as gifts among members of the imperial family.
An interesting fact: among the personal belongings of Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, which were transported to Moscow by the Provisional Government, there were about a hundred figurines by her beloved Fabergé. A special place in her collection was occupied by elephants—the heraldic symbol of her native Denmark—and dogs (bulldogs and pugs). Perhaps this was due to the fact that her husband, Emperor Alexander III, was affectionately called "bulldog" within his family during childhood. 😊
Some of Rappoport’s creations are held in the Kremlin Armory and the Hermitage Museum. His figurines are renowned for their intricate detailing, while Fabergé’s works stand out for their exceptional realism—though the firm was not the first to craft silver animal figures...

Fabergé Imperial Russian Nephrite Duckling with Garnet Eyes and Silver Hallmarks
By Fabergé
Located in Chesterland, OH
Let us introduce another exquisite piece from our beloved collection — a stone figurine by the renowned Carl Fabergé firm. This delightful duckling is carved from genuine Russian nephrite, featuring garnet eyes framed in gold. The duckling’s feet are made of imperial Russian silver of 88 standard.
Both feet bear hallmarks: on the right foot, the Cyrillic initials "КФ" (Carl Fabergé), a kokoshnik head, and the 88 silver standard; the left foot carries the same markings, including the master’s initials "КФ" and identical quality stamps.
This figurine enchants with its charm, exceptional detailing, and substantial weight. Approximate dimensions:
Height: 66.3 mm
Length: 70 mm
Weight: 135 grams
Unfortunately, the original box is not included, as it was likely lost long ago.
A true treasure for collectors and admirers of Fabergé craftsmanship!
I would like to share with you an interesting piece of information: a similar figurine of a duckling made of gold-mounted chalcedony, with rose-cut diamond set eyes and gold feet in the original fitted case, was sold at one of the well-known auctions. It was valued at £20,000-£30,000.
Our figurine is not decorated with precious stones and does not have gold feet, and the only golden detail is the frame of her eyes, it is made of Russian jade...

Faberge Diamond-Set Egg Pendant in the Form of an Elephant
By Fabergé
Located in London, GB
A Fabergé diamond set miniature egg pendant in the form of an elephant realistically modelled in standing position with its trunk curving-up, all set throughout with rose-cut diamonds, the back decorated with a rose-gold saddle cloth with tassel finials set on the top with a cabochon-cut sapphire, all mounted in silver and rose-gold, bearing gold marks for 56 zolotniks and workmaster’s mark for Mikhail Perkhin, circa 1898-1903, measuring approximately 2.5 x 1.2cm, gross weight 6.1 grams.
Mikhail Perkhin’s workshop oversaw about half of the fifty-two Imperial Easter Eggs. An Elephant Automation was made as the ‘surprise’ for the Diamond Trellis Egg by Perkhin in 1892, and it is now part of The Royal Collection Trust.
This charming and unusual little treasure was made by Fabergé and comes from the Fabergé collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Fabergé was established in St Petersburg in 1842, and by the late nineteenth century, was Russia’s largest and most well-known jewellery house. The house has become known for their royal commissions and their close ties to the family of Tsar Nicholas II. This pendant bears the marks for Fabergé Workmaster Mikhail Perkhin. Mikhail Perkhin was a senior Fabergé Workmaster and is best remembered for the wedding clock he made for the marriage of Tsar Nicholas II and his wife Alexandra. This pendant is in the shape of an elephant, encrusted throughout with diamonds and featuring a cabochon-cut sapphire on its saddle. The pendant loop is cleverly set through the curled trunk of the elephant. This wonderful piece is a fabulous example of true Fabergé craftsmanship.
