depicts Saint Sergius of Radonezh (1314 - 1392) –
a prominent Russian Orthodox monk
spiritual leader,
a founder of Trinity Lavra of St Sergius
Featuring a finely detailed cloisonné enamel colourful halo
(in striking violet
purple, sky
indigo blue,
ruby red, turquoise, white
green)
84 silver oklad / riza,
gorgeously embossed throughout,
crafted with exceptional attention to details

He revived monastic life during a time of turmoil,

His blessing to Prince Dmitry Donskoy before the Battle of Kulikovo
later became a symbol of moral strength and national courage.
Even today, his legacy lives on in the countless monasteries he influenced and
in the enduring idea that inner peace can become a source of collective strength.

Saint Tryphon's saint day is February 14th, according to the Old Calendar, which is the time for wine growers to prune their grape vines for an abundant harvest in the fall.
