About the Item
This Iron quizzing glass was crated towards the end of the eighteenth century in France. The large round split ring indicates that it was to be worn on a chain. Thirty two round steel elements make up an ornamental outer frame that surrounds the inner grooved frame which holds the magnifying glass. Each of the thirty two elements is connected to a facetted polish steel bead by a rivet. The depth refers to the split ring.
