About the Item
This Georgian Clasp was handcrafted in the last quarter of the 18th century. These kind of clasps were used for bracelets and for necklaces. The clasp is made out of silver and set with flat cut square garnets. Two of the garnets are chipped. Under the original oval glass we see intricately woven hair. Over the perfectly tight woven blond hair we see a double eternity knot, also known as lovers knot. The drillings at the sides of the clasp show 12 holes on each side to hold twelve rows of beads or pearls.
