About the Item
A fine antique jade mounted as a magnifying glass.
In the form of a Ruki shaped hairpin. The glass is framed in a silver tone metal and supported with an A-frame splayed foot.
The nephrite jade is pale celadon in color.
The magnifying glass was likely assembled in the early 20th century by someone influenced by Edward I. Farmer or one of his contemporaries. It is unmarked for the maker. The jade is finely carved and possibly earlier than the 20th century. The silver tone metal is unmarked for fineness or content.
