An outstanding piece of 1930s Art Deco wearable art. Stylish and innovative. This original art deco wrist compact features a broad cuff set with three large and beautifully cut geometric marbled butterscotch bakelite pieces; the centre cleverly concealing a small secret door that opens to reveal a mirror and powder compact. This particular design is the English version of the Flamaud French compact bracelet for Josephine Baker. The Flappers of the era would have adorned themselves with this natty portable cuff before heading out for cocktails and dancing, mingling with high society. The perfect answer to chic emergency repairs. Vintage Condition: Incredible condition for 90 years, without damage or noteworthy wear. Even the mirror and gauze are in great condition. Materials: brass or metal alloy, bakelite Signed: Stamped Made in England. Dating to 1930 bases on book references Fastening: squeeze to release, hinged clip with 4 settings Approximate Dimensions: 5cm inner diameter, 4cm deep at the front.
