About the Item
Extremely Fine Purple-red Antique Chinese bed cover or wall hanging, elaborately embroided in coloured silk with a central medallion with a Bird (Phoenix) surrounded by branches, flowers and foliage. Smaller four birds are embroided in the corners among flowers and foliage. Smaller traditional oriental cranes are intricately embroidered are scattered in many places. Tapestry is lined with off-white lightweight China silk, which now has a few stains and is slightly torn in a few places but this is not all noticeable on the front side. There are very minor defects but no embroideries are missing and considering the the age and refinement is in extremely good condition.
Expert verbally attributed the work to the end of Qing dynasty, approx. 1900-1912.
Cover is measuring 193 cm x 214 cm (76"x4Ft).
