This extraordinary painting by Japanese artist Yamazaki Osamu
is depicting Paris in 1941.
It illustrates The Basilica of Sacré Cœur de Montmartre
(Sacred Heart of Montmartre,
commonly known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica) from a different angle.
This Catholic church and basilica in Paris is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
On December 8, 2022,
the National Commission of Patrimony and Architecture
officially designated it as a national historic monument.

Yamazaki Osamu (Japanese French 1941 - ) is recognized
for his Impressionist and abstract figure, landscape,
and marine paintings, Yamazaki received his artistic education
at the School of Arts in Asakura, Japan,
under the guidance of renowned Japanese sculptor Fumio Asakura.
In the early 1960s, he traveled to Rome, Italy,
where he pursued further studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and
worked as an assistant to Pericle Fazzini,
a distinguished Vatican sculptor and professor of fine arts.
Throughout the 1960s,
Yamazaki studied, worked, and taught in various countries,
including Italy, Sweden, the United States, and Mexico.
Eventually, he settled in Paris in 1970 and began exhibiting his work extensively during the 1970s.
His exhibitions included the International Exhibition of Paris-Sud,
the Salon of French Artists in Paris, the Lucerne Art Fair in Switzerland,
and several other prestigious venues.
