Liisa Vitali's father was Veikko Vitali, a surveying engineer, who bought the Sark farm from Vileroela in Somero in 1920 and started cultivating it. After the death of his parents, Liisa Vitali and her brother Väinö continued to keep the farm.
Vitali started metalworking as a hobby sometime after the mid-1950s, first designing buttons in copper and brass, but gradually moving to jewelry and precious metal. He got the impetus for jewelry design, possibly from Kaija Aarika, a Finn from a Someranian family, in whose company he worked in Helsinki in the 1950s. When the dairy herd was abandoned, there was more time left for jewelry design. At first, Vital's jewelry was only available directly from the author and the Aarika store, but then Vitali signed a contract with the Gold Center in Hämeenlinna and designed numerous jewelry sets for it in the 1960s and 1970s, which were very commercially successful and gained worldwide fame. There were jewelery exhibitions in Finland, Germany, Sweden and Great Britain, and jewelery was also exported to France. In the midst of her best creative period, Vitali became ill, and the pancreatic cancer diagnosed in August 1987 led to her death as early as November of that year.
