About the Item
An exquisite relic of the past, this antique 18K gold memorial ring from 1831 with pearls and black enamel is a testament to the elegance and sentimentality of bygone eras. Crafted with meticulous care and attention to detail, this ring exudes both historical charm and timeless beauty.
Designed with intricate black enameled motifs and the initials of the beloved departed, the surface of the ring tells a story of remembrance and reverence. Each curve and flourish speaks volumes, capturing the essence of a life lived and a love that transcends the bounds of time.
On the inside bears the inscription: Margaret Day, Ob 8 Dec, 1831 Aged 68, while outside, the letters in black diamond shaped enamel read: in memoriam. At the front ten 1/2 pearls are placed and a lock of hair behind the glass compartment.
The following hallmarks can be seen inside: English assay mark, Crown, 18 (18K gold), Leopard Head London, Q 1831, WE William Eaton (active late 1st quarter and 2nd quarter of the 19th century).
The ring size: 16.25 mm / 51 mm.
Weight: 4.15 grams.
The ring is in good condition given its age, minor wear to the black enamel (see also the photos). We do not recommend resizing the ring as this will change the appearance and reduce the value of the ring.
