About the Item
An antique hairwork and gold ring, comprising plaited brunette hairwork, set in a 9 karat yellow gold band.
This unusual ring is crafted in the form of a buckle, or belt. The edge of the buckle is carved with floral details, all the way around and brunette, plaited hairwork adorns the buckle ring, set in the recess. The ring is ornamented with a rectangular shaped buckle, with the end of the belt designed as a shield shape, engraved with scrolling motifs. The ring is in great condition, with the hairwork fully intact. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The band measures just over 6mm wide at the front, and 4.5mm wide at the back.
