About the Item
The God and Goddess, Poseidon and Amphitrite, his wife, are depicted on the shoulders of this Art Nouveau ring. Both hold tridents. The ring was made c.1900 the height of the Art Nouveau period. There is some softening to the nude figures due to natural wear and age. The pavilion of the ring is step cut. Naked forms and imagery were used in Art Nouveau jewelry showing nature, a major theme of the period. Typical as well of the period are curvilinear flowing lines and dramatic images. This was a movement against the industrialist revolution. Handmade jewelry with precious and semi precious stones were created. The ring is likely French and shows an eagle head mark. This ring arrives with a GIA certificate stating the sapphire is natural. It is size 6 and can be sized by your master jeweler. Weight 7.2 grams
