Byzantine gold stamped ring. The central flat lozenge form plaque stamped with a repeating X shape punch with traces of niello, flanked by conforming shoulders which smoothly lead through to a solid D-shape shank, the punchmarks following the full circumference of the shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 4.70 grams in weight, circa 6th - 10th century.
