About the Item

Solid and chunky 18K antique quadruple banded Victorian snake ring hallmarked for London in 1902. The snake has a friendly smile and sweet derpy face and stylized gold eyes, all details showing the creativity of the goldsmith who would have fabricated the ring by hand almost likely never having encountered a real snake. Snakes were a symbol of eternal love and friendship and were popularized by Queen Victoria during her reign in the 19th century. Snake rings were worn equally by both men and women, which is why large size snake rings are often found in large sizes. We love the robust size of this snake ring as well as the balanced look of the snake heads embedded together, each with a diamond set in a carved star in a secure mounting. This ring can be worn everyday wear. For the individual desiring a very clear and prominent looking snake, this is the perfect snake ring for you. The final model photo shows this snake ring on the forefinger. Note that all the rings on the model photo are available on First Dibs. Size 10 and resizeable.
