In 1989, exceptionally brightly colored blue
blue green tourmalines were discovered in the state of Paraíba, Brazil. Researchers determined that these elbaite tourmalines received their intense coloration from copper. Blue is the rarest color in tourmalines with Paraibas being the most rare. Evoking the calming blues and greens of the sea, particularly the Caribbean Sea near Brazil, these gems are beauties. Metaphysically, the crystal symbolizes intuition, creativity, and intellect.
