About the Item
Here we have a stunning yet sentimental 18ct yellow gold mourning ring taken from the Georgian era. The prominent use of black filled enamel here indicates the deceased was married at their time of death whereas the use of white enamel during this period would indicate an individual was unmarried.
At the centre of the band we find the words 'GEO: LLOYD. ESQ: OB:12 OCT: 1804. AE55' which has been neatly enamelled in a rich yellow gold colour tone before the piece is made complete by a white enamelled trim and a beaded edging above and below.
It is impossible to be exactly sure of the provenance but this historical piece would be an amazing addition to any antique jewellery collection.
