About the Item

Imperial Russian Diamond Enamel Ring by Michael Perchin for Fabergé. Created around 1885. A magnificent and historically important Imperial Russian ring, attributed to Michael Perchin, the celebrated workmaster for the House of Fabergé, St. Petersburg. This exceptional jewel combines exquisite craftsmanship, imperial symbolism, and impeccable provenance — a true treasure of late 19th-century Russian artistry. Design Composition At the center lies a royal blue enameled plaque bearing the Imperial cipher “A III” beneath the Russian Imperial crown, the personal emblem of Tsar Alexander III (reigned 1881–1894). The emblem is adorned with: Four old European-cut diamonds, approx. 3.50 carats total A surrounding halo of twelve old European-cut diamonds, approx. 2.50 carats total Total diamond weight: approx. 6.00 carats Color: E–F Clarity: VVS2–SI1 (majority VS) Craftsmanship Hallmarks The ring bears the maker’s mark “М.П.” (in Cyrillic) — Michael Perchin, one of Fabergé’s most celebrated masters, whose creations are among the most prized in Russian jewelry history. Stamped with Russian 18K hallmark and St. Petersburg city mark. Dimensions Details Ring Size: US 8 (with original soldered sizing bar) Weight: 17.1 g (0.6 oz) Condition: Very good antique condition. Minor surface scratch to enamel and one small diamond missing from the crown. Historical Context Rings bearing the Imperial cipher of the Sovereign were traditionally presented by Russian monarchs as personal gifts for distinguished service in the Army, Civil Service, or Court. Such elaborate examples, lavishly set with diamonds and enamel, were reserved for the highest ranks of imperial favor. Provenance Rarity A similar Fabergé ring was sold at Hindman Auctions in 2017 for over $100,000 USD. Items of this magnitude and provenance rarely appear on the market today. Investment Legacy Not only a jewel of remarkable beauty but also a historic artifact of Imperial Russia. With prices for Russian art currently at a historical low, this represents a superb opportunity for collectors and investors alike — a rare fusion of royal history, artistry, and intrinsic value.
