About the Item
Eytan Brandes created this sleek design years ago to be channel-set with diamond baguettes. Recently, however, he rediscovered an old sugilite mineral sample among his many drawers of Interesting Jeweler Stuff and thought it would look great as the centerpiece of his modern band. Sure enough, our gemcutter was able to bring out the gorgeous, deep purple color and woodsy striations in this unusual stone, not even recognized as a mineral until 1976.
Other than the sly, architectural peak on the side, this is a very straightforward band -- tapering just slightly in width from 8.15mm (about 1/3") in the front to 6.7mm (about 1/4") in the back. At the "peak," the ring's elevation off the finger is 5.2mm.
This ring is a size 7.75, and in order to preserve the stones, it cannot be resized.
The inside of the ring is signed by Eytan Brandes and marked "14KT" for 14 karat gold. The ring weighs 10.2 grams.
