About the Item
Rare Original Condition Victorian Man in the Moon Ring from the 19th Century in 14K gold. Original moonstone carved smiley face set high into pronged settings which give the appearance of sunburst with scrolls of clouds, hand engraved on shoulders of ring.
Rare survival as rings of this sort were damaged if the wearer was wasnt careful as the moonstone cameo is mounted high. The adularescence (blue moon glow effect) comes from the upper left diagonally across the carving. Charming original Victorian carving. Modern moonstone carvings have flat pancake faces. 1860's USA, Signed HB conjoined for Heintz Bros NY. Size 6.5-7 USA. 14K Gold.
