A black jade, coral, turquoise and 14 karat gold ring, by master goldsmith
lapidary, San Felipe Pueblo, Richard Chavez, 1998. The ring is a size 8 US and is stamped with Richard Chavez's maker's mark.
The ring can be sized down by adding shots to the interior of the band. It cannot be sized up.
Goldsmith and lapidary jeweler, Richard Chavez (San Felipe Pueblo), trained as an architect and was an early devotee of the Bauhaus. He is a master of minimalism, color, and form. His jewels are not only breathtakingly pure and lovely, they are technically perfect and he creates them from start to finish - selecting each stone, polishing, cutting, designing and making. According to the late doyenne of specialists in Native American jewelry, Martha Struever, Chavez is "the contemporary jeweler to collect if you want heirlooms in the making."
