Pink sapphires are always spectacular for their captivating and unusual color. In this Pink Sapphire Eternity Band made by Spectra Fine Jewelry, the beautifully wrought openwork setting that peaks out from under the stones is just as stunning. From top view, the linear band, crafted in 18K rose gold, is sleek and stark, holding the princess-cut square gems in a channel setting. From the side view, the scalloped openwork that coalesces into an inverted knife edge band on the inside of the ring catches our eye and holds our gaze. Now that is a unique detail. The eternity band is made in the 21st century, 2022, and features natural pink sapphires of Madagascar origin weighing an estimated total of 2.74 carats.
Pink sapphires come in very pale baby pink to vivid, intense magenta. Madagascar pink sapphire is a dazzling and vibrant precious gemstone known for its exquisite color. Pink sapphires are frequently used in engagement rings and wedding bands because their light color has exceptional brilliance luster and fire and because sapphires are associated with faithfulness and sincerity. All sapphires are a variety of the mineral corundum, an aluminum oxide. It is small amounts of trace elements present during the formation of the corundum, over thousands of years that give the sapphire its specific color. In the case of pinks and purples, one of the primary elements is chromium, the same which colors a ruby. Pink and purple sapphires are usually priced higher than yellows and greens, but below blue sapphires.
