About the Item
A jewel of sentiment and artistry, this mid-Victorian ring (circa 1860–1870) features a luminous band of nine half pearls delicately interspersed with a ribbon of vibrant cobalt blue enamel.
Beneath the face of the ring lies a discreet glass compartment, which historically served as a memento holder. It currently contains a tiny lock of hair, underscoring the piece’s origin as a treasured mourning or sentimental jewel.
Though unmarked, the ring has been professionally tested using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming its composition as 18k gold.
The ring is in very good condition, with the enamel and pearls beautifully preserved. It is currently a size 6 and cannot be resized due to its construction.
A poignant and elegant example of Victorian sentimental jewelry, this enamel and pearl mourning ring is both a historic artifact and a wearable work of art — perfect for the discerning collector.
