Bold Modernist 1960's 14K yellow gold eternal love knot ring.
Symbolic of the unbreakable connection of love and often associated with wedding ceremonies, the Love Knot has a rich history in jewelry. Ancient Greece and ancient Rome both utilized the motif, in the latter, it was known as the Knot of Hercules, the guardian of marriages. The Celts have a long standing tradition of jewelry using unbroken loops without a beginning or an end to denote eternal love. In the 20th Century, one of the most iconic ring designs, the Trinity band designed by Louis Cartier for Jean Cocteau, uses the three unbroken interlocking loop motif and has become a timeless classic.
