About the Item
The gold ring is set with ten natural half pearls within a wavy black enamelled surround. Inside the pearl surround the ring is decorated with a garnet that might have replaced a lock of hair under glass during the ring's long history. The ring shoulders are embellished with finely chisseled flowers and scrollwork. This ring carries on the revers the inscription "Gilbert Jones, died 7th Septr 1830 aged 72".
The ring is impressed with the maker's mark TD and a hallmark that depicts the head of king George looking to the left.
