About the Item
Antique Ceylon sapphire and diamond cluster ring. Set to centre with a cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced Ceylon sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 4.50 carats, further set to top and bottom with two round old cut diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.20 carats, further adorned by rows of round rose cut diamonds, sixteen in total with a combined weight of 0.30 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.50 carats, to an elegant cluster design, featuring curving pierced claws, an openwork gallery and fancy shape open backholing, flanked by curving shoulders, flowing down to a solid D-shape shank. Tested 18 carat yellow gold, circa 1900, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #80267-29.
