About the Item
An antique diamond, silver, and yellow gold ring, comprising sixteen old cut diamonds, in silver and 18 karat yellow gold.
My favourite thing about this Antique 18K Yellow Gold and Silver 2 Row Diamond Ring, is the sparkling diamonds. What’s yours? Perhaps the carved shoulders? Or the contrast of silver and gold?
This late Victorian ring is set with graduating old European and old single cut diamonds, with the largest at the centre. The ring is formed as 2 rows of diamonds, 5 to each row, with a diamond terminal at each end, and small diamonds studded between. The diamonds are bright, sparkly, and well-matched with one another, the diamonds have a beautiful warm hue. The diamonds are held within a silver prong setting, the cool tone of the silver accentuating the brightness of the diamonds. The diamonds are raised on a hand-carved scroll gallery, and the shoulders of the ring are carved with a scrolling leaf-like motif. The shoulders lead to a plain, polished, chunky band of yellow gold. The ring is in great condition, may have previously been re-shanked. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The ring measures 6.6mm long, and the setting measures 19.5mm wide. The ring rises 3.7mm off the hand, and the band measures 2.3mm wide at the back.

Hallmarks: stamped ‘18’, tests as 18 karat gold (some areas of the band test as approximately 15 karat gold), setting tests as silver, circa 1890
