About the Item
An antique garnet, diamond, rock crystal, and yellow gold ring, comprising one round cut rhodolite garnet, eight rose cut diamonds, and two round cut rock crystals, set in 18 karat yellow gold, to a band of 18 karat yellow gold.
This lovely ring is set to the centre with a rhodolite garnet, of a beautiful pinkish purple hue. The round cut garnet is surrounded by a cluster of glittering rose cut diamonds, creating a central daisy motif. A pair of round cut rock crystals flank the cluster, finishing off the ring with a light, bright look. The gallery of the ring is pierced with circles, allowing light to filter through and aid sparkle. It is unusual to see a ring with this combination of gemstones, particularly with faceted rock crystal (quartz) stones, making this ring quite the rarity. The broad shoulders of the ring taper to a substantial band of plain, polished yellow gold. This ring is supremely well made, is of high quality and a weighty piece. The ring is in fair condition, with some wear to the facets of the garnet as would be expected, and a chip to the crown of the stone. The band appears to have been replaced, which has been skilfully done. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The setting measures 9mm high, and 13mm wide. The band measures 2.7mm wide at the back.
