About the Item
Claw-set with an ovel step-cut shaped Ceylon No heated, No treated blue sapphire within a surrounded diamonds.
Since unheated Burma and Kashmir sapphires are becoming so difficult to obtain, it makes sense to diversify with other sources. Since 95%+ of all Ceylons are heated, this is a rare gem.

Blue Ceylon Sapphire, GIA certified (untreated, unheated) 7.20 carats (11.24X8.60X8.35mm) ,transparent intense electric blue with a very slight violet tint color (This stone never blacks out.), geographic origin Sri Lanka (former Ceylon).
within a scalloped brilliant double surround, diamonds. Diamonds numerous near colorless round brilliants approx. 1.75 carats and mounted in 18K yellow Gold. Total weight 14.16 grams.
During most of the 20th century, fine sapphire came from only three sources, Kashmir (India), Myanmar (Burma) and Sri Lanka (Ceylon).
Sri Lanka (Ceylon) is not just the oldest source of sapphire, with continuous production over 2000 years, but also has produced most of the large fine sapphires ever seen. Lighter and brighter in color than the Burmese blues.
Top Sri Lankan blues are known in the trade as "peacock blues" (slightly electric appearance) Medium to light colors are often termed "cornflower" .
