About the Item
An absolutely magnificent, absolutely superb quality unheated, untreated ruby set in this stunning platinum setting from the famed but now depleted gem mines of Chantaburi in Thailand weighing an almost unheard of 5.19ct. Gorgeous shade of deeply saturated red, akin to the sought after ‘pigeon’s blood’ hue of yore, with a hint of purple, absolutely beautiful! The later 4 pics have been taken under incandescent lighting, and as you can see, the purple hue comes to the fore. In daylight and sunlight, however, the stone resembles nothing less than a crimson ball of fire! The stone is absolutely eye clean table up and almost but not quite loupe clean as well - there is some ‘silk’ and minuscule inclusions indeed within the stone, but overall clarity is truly *exceptional* for the genre - unheated ruby from any origin will inevitably have multiple inclusions but this one is *extremely* clean indeed. This is even more astonishing tking into account the immense size of the ring. Lustre and brilliance are *excellent* despite the strong colour saturation in the stone. We have used a sophisticated macro lens for these pics which will always tend to exaggerate any inclusions.
Cutting is superb with minimal to zero windowing in the stone. The diamonds are clean and white, not yellowish as in our pics, and total an immense 2ct+.
GIA certification is attached. As you can see, this was made when the ruby was in an unprepossessing setting, which has now obviously been changed. It goes without saying that we can re-certificate the stone with GIA upon request.
It also goes without saying that the stone is extremely rare, utterly unique and simply extremely collectible. I am not exaggerating to say that a Burmese stone of this colour and quality will be considerably in excess of $1m.
Whether mounted or loose, this ruby is absolutely CERTAIN to appreciate in value as time goes by and offers *exceptional* investment potential. Shipping $660 Fedex fully insured
