About the Item
A Victorian ruby and diamond ring, to the centre a cushion-cut ruby estimated to weigh 0.65 carats, surrounded by four old European-cut diamonds, with V-shaped diamond-set sides encrusted with further twelve old-cut diamonds o graduating size, the diamonds estimated to weigh 0.8 carats in total, all mounted in silver and yellow gold, to a yellow gold shank with rope design decoration, circa 1890, the head measuring approximately 15mm x 12mm, gross weight 3.3 grams. Finger size L 1/2
This ring is in very good condition. Bearing indistinct mark, tested as 18ct gold and silver.
This marvellous Victorian ring is one of many antique rings in the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. It features a vivid pigeon’s blood red ruby surrounded by a lovely openwork frame of glittering diamonds. This piece exemplifies late Victorian femininity and is a gorgeous and romantic piece. This ring would make a unique engagement ring.
