Blue zircons are the most amazing gemstone, if you don't know much about them you are missing out on something special. Many people get Zircons and Cubic Zirconia confused. As we know Cubic Zirconia is a man made diamond simulant, however Zircon is an entirely different gemstone. Firstly it's completely natural, it is mined from the earth. It can come in different colours, browns, oranges, greens and blues which are usually heat treated. Heat treatment is a very common practice in the gemstone world, in most cases it's a permanent treatment. This ring has so many special features, first the amazing blue zircon which sits front and centre. Blue zircon has a colour that is like no other gem, it's not like the deep, royal blue sapphires or the paler Ceylon stones, it's unlike aquamarine or tanzanite, it has a blue all of its own. Similar to the deep dark green/blue ocean waters but the most amazing thing is the scintillation that zircon possesses. The dispersion is very high and the rainbow flashes it throws off in the sunlight is quite mesmerising. This stone is estimated to be approximately 10cts, oval in shape and beautifully faceted. It is surrounded by an ornate bezel of gold work and then a row of small seed pearls that sit elegantly on a wire so they move around the central stone. This then leads down to detailed gold wirework that surrounds the whole piece. The shoulders have subtle hand engraving on them. So much detail in one ring, no one else will have a dress ring quite like this. Be a stand out!
