About the Item

Understated and elegant, and yet 600-odd years in the making, this rose gold and silver cocktail ring is produced using an ancient Albanian technique that was brought to Palermo in the fifteenth century. In this piece, carefully selected diamonds, each rose cut with 9 facets, are hand-chiselled into the top of the ring, which is made of silver and measures about 19.5 millimetres across. In total, this ring contains 1.85 carats of diamonds. The photographed ring is a 12 EU / 6 US ring size but it can be re-made in any size on request. Though craftspeople preserved the original technique in their new Sicilian home, each invasion of the southern Italian island brought a greater diversity of jewels and jewellery making, and techniques began to fuse and merge.
