About the Item
An antique diamond, sapphire, and yellow gold ring, comprising one larger and two smaller old mine cut diamonds and two oval cut blue sapphires, set in 18 karat yellow gold, to a band of 18 karat yellow gold.
The ring is set to the centre with a sparkling old cut diamond. The diamond is bright, white, and fiery, with the deep sparkle that only old cut diamonds with their chunky facets, have. The central diamond is flanked by a pair of oval cut blue sapphires, with a wonderful, luxurious depth of colour. A pair of smaller old cut diamonds complete this beautiful ring, adding extra depth and sparkle. The gallery of the ring is adorned with hand-carved scrolls; a popular motif in the late 1800s, and early 1900s. This design extends to the shoulders, with elegant foliate carvings. The shoulders taper to a plain, polished band of yellow gold. The ring is in good condition, with a small chip to one of the smaller diamonds, and a small amount of wear to the sapphires, which is not noticeable when worn. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The setting of the ring measures just over 5mm high and 16.5mm wide. The band measures just under 2mm wide at the back.
