About the Item

This is a jadeite jade ring with a soul. An old ring. An old soul. It was created in Europe during the mid to late nineteenth century. The rear exterior of the band bears three hallmarks but I am unable to decipher them. It could be Spanish or perhaps it was crafted in Prague. The jeweler who created this ever-so-slightly eccentric ring was obviously highly skilled. I imagine he wore a heavy cotton apron the color of oatmeal and streaked with buffing rouge and silver dust. Did the idea for the setting come to him in a dream? The metalwork is stunning and ornate, hand-chiseled and mindfully formed. Tiny rose-cut diamonds are set deep into silver on the face and shoulders of the ring. A halo of bezel-set sapphires encircles the richly-saturated natural and untreated jade cabochon, which measures 12.50 mm x 9.50 mm. The jade possesses a fine old 19th-century hand polish. The gold tests greater than 18k. This ring possesses a somewhat grand and aristocratic bearing. It's extremely well made, as you can see from the images. It is the perfect jade ring for somebody who is slightly eccentric. One can imagine a duke or duchess wearing this ring; one can also envision it on the hand of a witch or a young woman with a certain "sixth sense" that perhaps cannot be wholly explained by science. A man could wear it, too. Especially one who carried a pocket watch. This is unlike any jade ring I have ever encountered. Which is like a librarian saying, "I've never even heard of that author." It's rare, it's regal. It is gorgeous at night by incandescent light where rubies are always on their absolute best behavior and the jade itself rises to the occasion and deepens to an emerald-imperial shade of green. It's an essential ring for the jade collector or that unique person who seeks an antique ring that is as unique as they are. A remarkable antique treasure in beautiful condition, this jadeite jade ring is currently a size 8 but could be resized by your local jeweler, being mindful to retain the hallmarks.

Wear consistent with age and use. The ring is in excellent condition for a ring of this age with no evidence of damage, repairs or a prior resizing. All stones are present and tight in their settings. The deep bezels have shielded the rubies from abrasion.
