A Victorian garnet, pearl, and yellow gold ring, comprising three round cut rhodolite garnets, and two half seed pearls, set in 15 karat yellow gold, to a 15 karat yellow gold band.
My favourite thing about this Victorian 15K Gold Garnet and Pearl Ring is the purplish pink of the garnets. What’s yours? Perhaps the shimmering pearls? Or the engraving to the band?
This beautiful Victorian ring is set to the centre with a round cut rhodolite garnet. The garnet is flanked by a pair of pale, lustrous, shimmering pearls, which complement the soft pink of the garnets perfectly. A further pair of smaller round cut rhodolite garnets are set to either side. The garnets are a beautiful purplish pink hue; a perfectly luxurious colour and are well-matched with one another. The pearls and garnets are raised on a gallery with ribbon-like adornments, creating scrolls. The shoulders of the ring are engraved with a pattern evoking a pair of scrolling roses, and lead to a band engraved with a scrolling pattern. Engraved bands such as these are a coveted design element of rings from this period. The ring is in good condition. The pearls have little to no wear, and are assumed replacements (common for a ring of this age) and there is some discolouration to the inside of the band. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The setting of the ring measures 6.7mm long and 15mm wide. The band measures 2.2mm wide at the back, and the ring rises 3.3mm off the hand.
