About the Item
An Art Deco diamond, sapphire, and platinum ring, comprising fifteen transitional and old European cut diamonds, and ten calibre cut sapphires, in platinum.
My favourite thing about this Art Deco Platinum Diamond and Sapphire Panel Ring is the sparkling diamonds. What’s yours? Perhaps the beautiful shape? Or the glowing sapphires?
This intricate Art Deco ring is set to the centre with 3 transitional cut diamonds, held within octagonal settings. To the ‘east’ and ‘west’ a pair of old European cut diamonds are held within millegrain edged bezel settings, appearing as if floating. The top and bottom of the ring are mounted with a fan of diamonds, creating a geometric design, synonymous with the era. The shoulders are set with a channel of calibre cut blue sapphires, which gives way to filigree details, and foliate engraving. The diamonds are bright, white, sparkly and well-matched with one another, their icy-white accentuated by the cool tone of the platinum. A statement Art Deco piece. The ring is in good condition, one of the sapphires has been replaced with a kite-shaped (rather than rectangular shaped) stone. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The head of the ring measures 24.9mm long, and 19.5mm wide. The ring rises 7mm off the hand, and the band measures 1.5mm wide at the back.
