About the Item

A unique white fire opal and diamond 18-karat yellow gold art jewel, this ring by Claude West, based at the famed Belgian jeweler Fernand Demaret, is Signed Demaret, 750, with the maker's mark. It is a ring size 7. This ring is not resizable. In Demaret signature, this striking modernist gold cocktail ring combines organic shapes with a finely set gemstone. The cabochon set white fire opal is an estimated 5.7 ct weight with orange, green, and violet opalescence. The ring curves around the finger comfortably and makes a generous and sensual impression in rich yellow gold on the hand. Fernand Demaret (1906-1980) was a Belgian jewelry designer best known for his innovative designs, characterized by their use of colorful gemstones and bold, sculptural shapes. Demaret began his career as a diamond cutter before transitioning to jewelry design, and his technical expertise is evident in the precision of his work.
