About the Item
This classic 14 karat cocktail ring showcases a light purple jadeite cabochon in a well-proportioned halo of clean white diamonds.
We submitted this ring to the Gemological Institute of America so the buyer can be assured the stone is undyed, untreated jadeite jade (i.e., Type A). While the report does not
The GIA calls the stone a "double cabochon," meaning the top and bottom are rounded, but the rounded bottom is very subtle, whereas the top has a graceful medium dome. Based on the GIA's stone measurements, we estimate a weight between 12.15 to 12.45 carats.
The 24 halo diamonds are all round, brilliant cut natural (i.e., earth-mined) stones, around 2.4mm each. We estimate a total diamond weight of at least 1.2 carats. Eytan rates the diamonds eye clean -- at least H color and VS2 clarity.
The ring has a nice cage-style gallery. Three-way split shoulders fuse at the sides and go "blank" in the back for easy resizing.
Currently a size 5.25, we will resize this ring within a range of 4.5 to 7 at no charge for full-price buyers. Resizing is otherwise negotiable. Note that the fit is a little bigger than its mandrel size -- more like a 5.5 -- because there's some wiggle room behind the face.
The ring is stamped "14K" and has an unknown maker's mark -- possibly the letter "L" inside the letter "C."
We think this ring was made sometimes between 1970 and 1990. It's in excellent condition.

The face of this bold, modern ring started off in life as a cufflink,* probably made in the early 1970s.
Originally set with a not-aging-very-well black star sapphire, Eytan replaced it with a nice 1.02 carat natural ruby cabochon. The diamonds are original -- clean little full cut brilliants, earth-mined and untreated, weighing approximately 0.03 carats each.
The wide split shoulders flare out a bit at the sides to form a carinated single shank that tapers to a width of 4mm at the back.
Currently a size 7, Eytan will resize at no additional charge for full-price buyers.
All metal is 14 karat white gold.
This ring weighs 12.4 grams.
